Clearfield Wrestlers Place Five at Tool City Tourney

MEADVILLE — The Clearfield Bison wrestling team made their annual post-New Year’s trip to the Tool City Tournament in Meadville over the January 3 weekend.

There were 19 teams competing in the 35 annual event. The Bison placed a respectable eighth accumulating 108 points, while Boiling Springs won the title with 221 points.

Leading the charge for the Bison were fourth place finishers Travis Ogden at 195 and Jake Verchik at 285. Placing fifth were 113 pounder Logan Gilbert, 126 pounder Noah Cline, and 145 pounder Mike Beck.

The Bison (3-1) will return to dual meet action when they host Penns Valley (2-0) on Tuesday night at the Arthur J. Weiss Gymnasium, weather permitting.
