Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E Sports) – The New York Rangers have acquired Daniel Carcillo from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for a seventh-round draft pick in 2014.

The Kings needed to clear a roster spot to activate goaltender Jonathan Quick and the trade for a seventh-round draft pick is perceived as a move to give Dan Carcillo away.

Coach Alain Vigneault called the Carcillo trade as a “low-risk move”, which came less than a day after fourth-line forward Derek Dorsett broke a fibula in their 5-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Dorsett is expected to miss up to six weeks.

The 28-year-old Carcillo has one goal, two points and 57 penalty minutes in 26 games for the Kings this season.
