Nick Johnson nets 24, Arizona dominates second half to rip Washington

Tucson, AZ, United States (4E Sports) – Nick Johnson scored 24 points while Aaron Gordon had 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Arizona Wildcats in a 71-62 win over the Washington Huskies Saturday at McKale Center.

T.J. McConnell had six assists, five rebounds and four steals for No. 1 Arizona.

Washington (9-6, 1-1) kept up with Arizona (15-0, Pac-12) in the first half, scoring inside and outrebounding them to lead 35-33.

The Huskies took a 42-36 lead with 16:32 left in the second half.

But Washington lost Shawn Kemp Jr. to fouls with 10:37, making it more difficult to match up with Arizona’s size.

Arizona turned up the defensive pressure in the second half, holding Washington to one field goal in a 10-minute span.

C.J. Wilcox led Washington with 20 points while Perris Blackwell had 12 points and 12 rebounds to lead Washington.
