Tampa, FL, United States (4E Sports) – Days after being fired by the Minnesota Vikings, Leslie Frazier got himself out of the unemployment line quickly after he agreed to be the next defensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Frazier will work under new Buccaneers head coach Lovie Smith, who was hired this week to replace the fired Greg Schiano.
The 54-year-old Frazier went 21-32-1 in three-plus seasons for the Vikings, including 5-10-1 in 2013. He had one season remaining on his contract with Minnesota when he was fired.
Aside from Frazier, the Bucs also hired former California coach Jeff Tedford as their new offensive coordinator.
According to sources, the Bucs also are eyeing Kansas City Chiefs director of player personnel Chris Ballard as their next general manager.
Prior to taking the Chiefs job in 2013, Ballard was in the Bears’ personnel department when Smith was their head coach.
The Bucs still may interview another candidate or two for the general manager job but Ballard tops the list.
