DeAndre Kane’s 23 points lifts Iowa State over Boise State

Honolulu, HI, United States (4E Sports) – DeAndre Kane scored 23 points in lifting the Iowa State Cyclones over the Boise State Broncos 70-66 Wednesday at Stan Sheriff Center for the Diamond Head Classic championship.

Kane, who was named tournament VP, was 8 of 14 in the field, including 4 of 6 in the 3-point area.

Melvin Ejim had 15 points and 10 rebounds, Georges Niang had 16 points and Dustin Hoque added 13 points and nine boards for Iowa State (11-0).

Boise State raced to an 11 point lead at 22-11 and 26-15 before Iowa State answered with a 9-0 blast behind Kane’s 5 points to cut the lead to 26-24.

But two 3-pointers by Anthony Drmic and Thomas Bropleh plus a layup by Derrick Marks against another 3-pointer by Kane allowed Boise State to end the half with a 34-27 advantage.

Niang hit two 3-pointers, Kane scored on a layup and Ejim hit a jumper in Iowa State’s 10-0 run in the second half that allowed them to take a 47-43 lead with 12:55 to go.

Iowa State led until 4:10 left when Marks tied the game 60-all on a 3-point jumper.

But Kane hit a 3-pointer with less than 2 minutes left to help seal the win for Iowa State.

Marks led Boise State (10-3) with 23 points.
