Villanova, PA, United States (4E Sports) – Josh Hart erupted with 19 points off the bench to lead the No. 8 Villanova Wildcats in an 88-67 rout of the Rider Broncs Saturday at The Pavilion.
JayVaughn Pinkston had 14 points and Darrun Hilliard added 13 for Villanova (11-0), which remains one of 12 unbeaten teams in Division I.
Villanova raced to 25-12 lead following a jumper by Hart with 8:08 in the first half.
A 3-point jumper by Anthony Myles and back to back baskets by Jimmie Taylor allowed Rider to cut the lead to 25-19.
Rider pulled within five with 4:41 left in the first on a pair of free throws from Taylor.
But Hilliard scored seven points to lead Villanova in closing the half on a 16-7 spurt as it took a 43-29 lead into the break.
Villanova pulled away in the second half, extending its lead to 27 after a Hart 3-pointer.
Anthony Myles had 22 points, Jimmie Taylor added 15 points and Daniel Stewart scored 13 for Rider (5-5).
