Atlanta, GA, United States (4E) – Two tickets that won the $636 million Mega Millions jackpot were sold in Atlanta, Georgia and San Jose, California, lottery officials said Wednesday.

The tickets matched the winning numbers drawn on Tuesday: 8, 14, 17, 20, 39 and the Mega Ball number 7. One player bought one of the tickets at the Gateway Newsstands in the Alliance Center building at 3500 Lenox Road near Phipps Plaza in Buckhead, according to Mega Millions Executive Director Paula Otto.

The owner of the store, Young Soolee, said she might have sold the winning ticket to a group of players who had pooled their money.

That ticket holder will split the prize with the player who bought the other winning ticket at Jennifer’s Gift Shop at 1818 Tully Rd., San Jose. Thuy Nguyen said his shop won $1 million for selling one of the winning tickets for the jackpot prize.

Should the winners decide for a one-time payout, each will take home approximately $170.5 million in cash after tax.

The jackpot is the second-largest lottery prize in U.S. history. The amount grew after the jackpot was not won in 22 draws since Oct. 4.

Meanwhile, two other Georgia players matched the first five numbers drawn on Tuesday to win $1 million each. Eighteen players from other states also won the same amount each for getting tickets with the same first five numbers.
