Jacksonville, FL, United States (4E Sports) – The Jacksonville Jaguars have placed two players on injured reserve, including wide receiver Cecil Shorts, who has been dealing with a groin injury for weeks.
Aside from Shorts, guard Will Rackley’s season is over due to a concussion.
Shorts, who leads the Jaguars with 66 catches for 777 yards, has been struggling with the groin injury for much of the season. However, he managed it by not practicing on Wednesdays and being limited on Thursdays.
However, the schedule got thrown off when the Jaguars played the Houston Texans Thursday, Dec. 5, and there wasn’t sufficient time for Shorts to rest his groin from the previous Sunday’s game against Cleveland.
Shorts practiced on a limited basis Friday and said he knew then that he wouldn’t be able to play Sunday against the Buffalo Bills, a 27-20 loss.
Rackley missed the game against Buffalo after a re-emergence of concussion-like symptoms.
The Jaguars activated guard Drew Nowak from the practice squad and signed free-agent defensive end D’Aundre Reed to fill the roster spots.
