Gainesville, FL, United States (4E Sports) – Florida Gators quarterback Tyler Murphy who has one year of eligibility remaining will transfer and play at another school.
UConn is a possible destination since it is in his home state.
He informed Gators coach Will Muschamp of his decision a day after graduating.
Murphy will be eligible to play next season at another school if he finds a graduate program not offered at Florida.
He threw for 1,216 yards and six touchdowns with five interceptions in nine games this past season, taking over the starting role after Jeff Driskel suffered a broken leg.
Murphy struggled during the second half of the season with a shoulder injury and missed the last three games of the year.
The Gators finished 4-8 and without a bowl bid.
Muschamp said that the starting quarterback job is up for grabs.
Driskel will be crowded by Skyler Mornhinweg who started the final three games for the post.
