West Point, NY, United States (4E Sports) – Army has dismissed head football coach Rich Ellerson after the team lost to Navy for the 12th straight time, a source said.

In his five seasons, Ellerson racked up a 20-41 record, including a 0-5 record against the Midshipmen. This season, Army went 3-9 this season, including the 34-7 defeat to Navy.

Ellerson’s finest moment came when Army recorded a 7-6 record in 2010, including a victory over SMU in the Armed Forces Bowl.

However, Army combined to win just eight games the past three seasons, leading to his dismissal.

Among those who could be replacing Ellerson are Ohio State co-offensive coordinator Ed Warinner, New York Jets special teams coach Ben Kotwica, Vanderbilt defensive coordinator Bob Shoop, UCF offensive coordinator Charlie Taaffe and Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan.
