Winnipeg, MB, Canada (4E Sports) – Co-captains Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn scored two goals apiece to lead the Dallas Stars to a 6-4 victory over the Winnipeg Jets Saturday at MTS Center.
Seguin, who also had two assists, scored five goals in the last five games to raise his season total to 17 while Benn recorded his eighth and ninth goal of the year as the Stars (15-11-5) snapped a two-game losing streak.
Valeri Nichushkin and Colton Sceviour scored while defenseman Sergei Gonchar tallied a career-high four assists as the win pushed the Stars two points ahead of Winnipeg in the Central Division.
Blake Wheeler netted two goals, Matt Halischuk accounted for the third as the Jets finished a three-game all-Central Division homestand with an 0-2-1 record the week after returning from a 4-2-0 road trip.
Ondrej Pavelec stopped 19 of 24 shots before he was replaced by Al Montoya, who had seven saves for the Jets, who dropped eight points behind the Stanley Cup Playoff line in the Western Conference.
Seguin, who had two goals and two assists in his visit to MTS Centre on Oct. 11, scored 7:14 into the first period. Halischuk tied the game with his third goal of the season before leaving game late in the first period with an upper-body injury and did not return.
Nichushkin’s goal gave the Stars a 2-1 lead at 14:24 before Wheeler tied the count 12:58 into the second period.
Benn scored with 6:14 left to give the Stars a 3-2 lead but Wheeler tied the game anew with 5:07 left.
Benn ripped his second goal past Pavelec with 2:14 left and Seguin followed 63 seconds later for a 5-3 lead.
Sceviour scored his first goal of the season in the third before Jokinen capped scoring with his eighth score of the year.
