Pitcher Bartolo Colon joins Mets on 2-year, $20M deal

New York, NY, United States (4E Sports) – Right-hander Bartolo Colon has signed a two-year contract worth $20 million with the New York Mets.

The deal is pending a physical. Colon, 40, made $3 million last season with the Oakland Athletics.

He will join holdovers Jonathan Niese, Dillon Gee and Zack Wheeler in the Mets’ rotation.

Going 18-6 with a 2.65 ERA (141 ERA+) and a 4.03 K/BB in 190 1/3 innings for the Athletics this past season, Colon made it as an All-Star and finished sixth in the AL Cy Young voting.

Colon has gone 36-25 with a 3.32 ERA (119 ERA+) and a 3.73 K/BB in 507 innings since 2011. He was suspended 50 games for failing a performance-enhancing drug test late in the 2012 season.
