Great Falls, MT, United States (4E) – A teenager who pleaded guilty to raping an 11-year-old girl last year was sentenced to 75 years in prison Wednesday.

Judge Greg Pinski of Cascade County District Court also ordered Kaleb Kuebler, 16, to pay $135,000 in restitution to his victim, complete a sex-offender treatment program before being eligible for parole and register as a sex offender after his release.

The judge said the longer incarceration of Kuebler will protect the public.

Ten years of Kuebler’s 75-year sentence is suspended but the remaining prison term is still longer than the 60 years recommended in the plea agreement he signed in September.

Kuebler spoke during the sentencing hearing admitting his action was wrong.

His victim, now 12, also testified and said he wanted Kuebler to “go away for a long time.”

Kuebler was 15 when he approached the victim, who was walking home from school, in October 2012. He stole her hat and lured her into an alley, where he raped her.

The victim reported the assault to her grandparents and police arrested Kuebler later.

In September, Kuebler tried to commit suicide by jumping from the third floor of the Cascade County Courthouse. He fell 30 feet to the second floor rotunda and was hospitalized before being returned to jail.
