Columbus, OH, United States (4E Sports) – LaQuinton Ross scored 23 points to push No. 5 Ohio State Buckeyes past Central Connecticut State University Blue Devils 74-56 at Value City Arena.

Lenzelle Smith added 17 points for Ohio State.

Ohio State (8-0) was lethargic at both ends, but Ross’ shooting kept them in the lead and eventually put the game out of reach. Ross is shooting 63 percent over his last three games.

CCSU’s 3-2 zone befuddled Ohio State and snuffed their transition game. They also outrebounded Ohio State 29-28.

Ahead 38-29 at the break, Ohito State had a hard time putting away the pesky Blue Devils.

The lead hovered around 10 points until Ohio State broke free with a run, capped by Aaron Craft’s layup that made it 55-41.

Later, Ross stole the ball near midcourt and drove coast to coast for another layup and an 18-point lead.

CCSU never seriously threatened again.

Faronte Drakeford led CCSU with 12 points and Matt Mobley added 10.
