Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Israeli-born actress Gal Gadot has been cast by Warner Bros. as Wonder Woman in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel.
Gadot, who was once Miss Universe contestant, joins Henry Cavill, who plays Superman, and Ben Affleck, who takes on the role of Batman in the new flick.
Of Gadot’s role, director Zack Snyder told the Hollywood Reporter, “Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.”
The 28-year-old actress was previously seen in the last three films of the Fast and Furious franchise, in the Tina Fey-Steve Carrell comedy “Date Night,” and Tom Cruise’s “Knight and Day.”
The yet to be titled superhero film is scheduled for release in July 17, 2015.
