Eloy, AZ, United States (4E) – Two foreign skydivers were killed and another was injured during a mid-air collision over Skydive Arizona in Eloy on Tuesday afternoon.
The fatalities collided about 200 feet from the ground around 4 p.m., according to Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor. Their parachutes collapsed during the collision and they fell to the ground, Eloy Police Sgt. Brian Jerome said, according to AZCentral.com.
One of the victims was found dead on the scene and the other died in a nearby hospital. The injured skydiver was flown to Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix for treatment.
Jerome said an investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the collision. He did not identify the dead victims and their nationalities. Officials said the victims were part of a group of skydivers trying to establish world sequential records.
