Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Actor Hugh Jackman is set to be back as the steel-clawed superhero in the upcoming sequel of Wolverine, reports confirm Tuesday.
The sequel, which plot is being kept under wraps, will be directed by James Mangold and produced by Lauren Shuler Donner.
“The Wolverine” was released last summer and grossed a total of $413 million worldwide, making it the second top-grossing X-Men film of all time, surpassing “X2: X-Men United.”
This will be the eighth time that Jackman, 45, will play the role of Wolverine. Talking about the character to E! News at the Angel Ball in New York last week, Jackman commented, “He’s like a best friend, Wolverine.”
He continued, “He’s the beginning of my career here in America and he’s still there. It’s been 14 years and I can’t believe it. I love the character. I love playing him and I’m probably loving him more than ever.”
Meanwhile, Jackman will next be seen as Wolverine in “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” which is set for release on May 23, 2014.
