New York, NY, United States (4E Sports) – Brooklyn Nets reserve center Andray Blatche was fined $15,000 by the league for making an obscene gesture late in the team’s 101-100 victory over the Miami Heat Friday night at Barclays Center.
Blatche, 27, was celebrating Joe Johnson’s 3-pointer by making the gesture on the sideline with 2:40 remaining in the fourth quarter.
He could be seen on television cameras making a gesture towards his groin from the bench.
The 3-point conversion pushed the Nets lead up 96-84.
But the Heat would later go on a 16-5 run remaining two-plus minutes, proving Blatche’s celebration to be premature.
Blatche had nine points and six rebounds in 25 minutes in helping the Nets rebound from a season-opening loss to the Cleveland Cavs.
