Glendale, AZ, United States (4E Sports) – Right winger Mikkel Boedker scored the lone shootout goal in the fifth round to complete a Phoenix Coyotes rally from 0-3 and beat the Nashville Predators 5-4 Thursday at Jobing.com Arena.
Thomas Greiss made 36 saves and stopped all five shootout attempts for the Coyotes.
The Coyotes have now scored in 10 of its past 11 games and is 9-3-2 on the season.
The Predators jumped to a 3-0 lead in the first period, courtesy of Matt Hendricks, Eric Nystrom and David Legwand.
The Coyotes finally scored early in the second when Zbynek Michalek set up Jordan Szwarz who lofted a soft wrist shot that slid under the gloves of Predator goalie Carter Hutton.
Derek Morris further cut the lead to 3-2 at 9:51 of the period on a rising slap shot from the top of the right circle.
Paul Gaustad gave the Predators a 4-2 lead on a rebound at 4:15 of the third before the Coyotes rallied.
Doan cut the lead to 4-3 on a power-play goal from the bottom of the left circle at 6:16, and a little over two minutes later found Antoine Vermette who slid the puck between Hutton’s pads to tie the game.
Hutton finished with 21 saves.
