London, England, United Kingdom (4E Sports) – NFL commissioner Roger Goodell emphasized that putting teams in both Los Angeles and London are given the same weight.
“I want both (London and L.A.), but it doesn’t matter which one is first,” he responded to a query by a fan at a forum for European NFL fans Saturday.
The NFL has not had a Los Angeles-based team since 1995 when both the Rams and the Raiders relocated.
Goodell said that getting back to Los Angeles has to be done in a manner that ensures success.
If the NFL puts a team in London, it would be the only American professional sports league to have a team based in Europe.
Goodell, a huge proponent of playing in London, noted that holding a Super Bowl there may become possible once a team is based in the city as it is only played in areas where the NFL has teams.
There will be two regular-season games played in London this season and three in 2014. The games are wildly popular and have been sellouts.
