CA, Anaheim, United States (4E Sports) – Steve Blake scored 19 points in leading the Los Angeles Lakers over the Utah Jazz 111-106 Friday night at Honda Center.
Pau Gasol and Nick Young each had 16.
Wesley Johnson’s layup gave the Lakers a 40-29 lead at 7:50 of the second.
But Gordon Hayward scored eight points to fuel a 19-2 Jazz run and get a 48-42 lead with 2:27 left in the quarter.
The Lakers retaliated, outscoring the Jazz 20-6 to open the third and get a 71-59 lead.
They grabbed the game’s biggest lead at 88-73 on Blake’s 3-pointer with 8.4 seconds left in the quarter.
A Lester Hudson 3-pointer threatened the Lakers’ lead as the Jazz got as close as 100-96 with 5:41 remaining.
But Johnson, Jordan Hill, Jodie Meeks and Jordan Farmar scored to pad the Lakers lead to 110-100 with just over a minute left.
The Lakers finished the preseason 4-4.
Gordon Hayward led Utah with 18 points and seven rebounds, and Alec Burks had 18 off the bench. Rudy Gobert got 12 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter.
