Glendale, AZ, United States (4E Sports) – Mike Ribeiro scored two goals and Mike Jones had 22 saves as the Phoenix Coyotes doused the Calgary Flames challenge, 4-2, Tuesday night at Jobing.com Arena.
The Coyotes jumped on the Flames early with Radim Vrbata scoring on a power play off a pass from Keith Yandle.
They also held the Flames to just three shots in the first period.
Ribeiro made it 2-0 in the second period after deflecting a shot by Mikkel Boedker past Flames goalie Joey MacDonald.
A Coyotes turnover in the second period set up Lee Stempniak for Flames first goal.
Joe Colborne tied the game with a breakaway goal just three minutes into the third after an assist by Jiri Hudler
Ribeiro then ripped a one-timer from a tough angle on another crossing pass from Yandle, to give the lead back to the Coyotes.
With MacDonald on the bench in favour of an extra attacker, the Flames tried to generate a final push but Mike Smith made some big saves. Rob Klinkhammer sealed Phoenix’s victory with his fourth of the season.
