Cincinnati, OH, United States (NewsBahn) – The Cincinnati Reds hired Bryan Price as manager Tuesday, effectively promoting him from the team’s pitching coach post.
He got hired on a three-year pact and becomes the 61st skipper in the team’s storied history.
“I think everyone in the room that day was as convinced as (CEO) Bob (Castellini) and I were in the first meeting that he was certainly the guy that stands out,” Reds GM Walt Jocketty said. “Once we had the meeting with Bryan, we felt there was no reason to go any further. He convinced us this was the right time and right place for him to lead this club.”
Price, 51, was the team’s pitching coach the last four years under the recently fired Dusty Baker.
