Guam, United States (4E) – Guam is bracing for a powerful typhoon as the government closed down offices to prepare for Francisco’s approach.
According to Guam news the typhoon will not pass directly over Guam, but it will pass close enough that it will get strong winds and rains over an 11-hour period.
“Winds of about 40 miles per hour to 46 miles per hour will start around 7 a.m. in the southern villages and (at) 8 a.m. in the northern villages. These winds and rains will continue until 6 p.m.”
Gusts of 60 miles per hour are expected, officials reiterated.
Francisco has developed in a similar area to where former Typhoon Wipha formed last week.
