Anaheim, CA, United States (4E Sports) – The New York Rangers were overmatched without forward Rick Nash in a 6-0 loss to the Anaheim Ducks Thursday, and will continue to miss him for Saturday’s game against the St. Louis Blues.
While Nash’s contributions were missed, he alone couldn’t have rescued this struggling group that displayed a shoddy defense.
“Our effort was a little better, but not where it needs to be,” said Rangers forward Ryan Callahan. “I expected a little more out of the group after the loss in San Jose.”
Nash suffered a probable concussion after an illegal check by San Jose Sharks defenseman Brad Stuart during their match Tuesday and was sent back to New York.
The injury occurred in the first period and Nash did not return to the game, which was won by the Sharks, 9-2.
He complained of had a “headache” afterwards.
Stuart was suspended by the NHL for the hit.
Nash has a concussion history and missed time last season after a crushing blow from Boston’s Milan Lucic sidelined him in February.
