Vancouver, BC, Canada (4E Sports) – Jason Garrison netted the game-winning goal at 2:18 in overtime for a Vancouver Canucks 3-2 comeback win over the New Jersey Devils at the Rogers Arena Tuesday.
The Canucks (3-1-0) also got goals from Daniel Sedin, who also had an assist, and Alexander Edler.
Canucks coach John Tortorella said the fact that his team has three straight come-from-behind victories bodes well moving forward.
“We’ll be in these situations and hopefully (we) can fall back on some of the positive things that are going on,” he said. “There was no panic on our bench. We just started playing a little bit quicker and a little bit simpler.”
Patrik Elias slid a cross-ice pass to Jaromir Jagr, who shot past Luongo to give the Devils a 1-0 lead.
Cory Schneider made big stops on David Booth and Kevin Bieksa before the Devils doubled their advantage at 7:25 courtesy of Elias.
The Canucks responded at 8:51 on a shot from Sedin that deflected off Volchenkov’s skate and past Schneider.The Canucks then tied it up at 13:47 on Edler’s goal.
Schneider finished with 29 saves.
The 27-year-old appeared was Canucks’ goaltender until he was traded to the Devils after Vancouver was unable to move Luongo and his 12 year, $64 million contract.
