Houston, TX, United States (4E Sports) – Former US international Ricardo Clark scored just six minutes into the game in what would be the loan goal in Houston Dynamo’s 1-0 win over the Montreal Impact at the BBVA Compass Stadium.
Boniek Garcia found Giles Barnes at the top of the box, who chested a perfect ball into the onrushing Clark who cut back for space and curled a shot onto the net.
The Impact felt the absence of Alessandro Nesta, Hernán Bernardello and Patrice Bernier as they battled for midfield supremacy against Clark, Garcia and Warren Creavalle.
It took the Impact 45 minutes to get their first good chance off the foot of Felipe Martins, which was deflected by Tally Hall.
The Dynamo started strong in th second half, with Brad Davis getting two shots of in the first two minutes of the second half, which the Impact escaped.
Sub Andrew Wenger led a Montreal attack in the 69th minute, setting up Davy Arnaud for a shot in box that was blocked by Bobby Boswell.
Minutes later, Andrés Romero put Wenger free on goal, but was stopped by a sprawling Hall.
