Tuscaloosa, AL, United States (4E Sports) – Running back T.J. Yeldon rushed for 121 yards and a career-long 68-yard score as No. 1 Alabama used its tight defense in a 25-0 rout of No. 21 Ole Miss Saturday before a sellout crowd of 101,821 at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
The Crimson Tide held the Rebels, who entered the game averaging 38 points and 490 yards of total offense per game, to just 205 total yards – 46 rushing and 159 through the air — and kept them off the scoreboard to improve to 4-0 (2-0 SEC).
Kenyan Drake had 99 yards on 12 carries, including a 50-yard scoring run, while quarterback AJ McCarron completed 25 of 32 passes for 190 yards with one interception.
Wide receiver Christion Jones caught five of McCarron’s passes for 61 yards, safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix had a team-leading 14 tackles and linebacker C.J. Mosley recorded 10 tackles for the Crimson Tide.
Bo Wallace completed 17 of 31 passes for 151 yards, Jeff Scott rushed for 28 yards on five carries and Donte Moncrief tallied 60 yards on six carries for the Rebels, who dropped to 3-1.
In the first quarter, McCarron hit Kenny Bell for six yards to set up a 28-yard field goal Cade Foster for a 3-0 lead.
The Tide extended the lead to 6-0 midway through the second quarter when Foster buried a career-long 53-yard field goal after a nine-play, 43-yard drive that consumed 5:44 of game time.
Alabama closed the first half with a methodical 56-yard, 13-play drive to a field goal to earn a 9-0 lead at halftime.
In the third, Yeldon took a delayed handoff on a draw play and raced up the middle of the Ole Miss defense and scored on a 68-yard gain for a 16-0 Alabama lead.
