Pittsburgh, PA, United States (4E Sports) – The Pittsburgh Penguins are expected to suffer in both defensive and offensive ends with the absence of Kris Letang due to a lower-body injury.
He won’t skate for the rest of the weekend and will be evaluated again when the team returns to Pittsburgh.
There is no timetable for his return.
The 25-year-old defenseman, a Norris Trophy finalist last season, is a key cog in the Penguins’ high-powered attack, scoring five goals and notching 33 assists for 38 points in just 35 games played last season.
He was signed to an eight-year contract extension in the off-season.
This loss is an immediate blow for Pittsburgh in its bid to recover from its postseason disappointment after being swept 4-0 by the Boston Bruins.
