Louisville, KY, United States (4E Sports) – Teddy Bridgewater tossed for 212 yards and four touchdowns to lead No. 7 Louisville to a 72-0 rout of Florida International Saturday at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium.
Bridgewater hit 17 of 22 passes while wide receiver DeVante Parker caught two of his scoring passes for the Cardinals (4-0), who recorded their highest scoring game since a 73-10 win over Murray State in 2007.
Parker recorded 74 yards on six catches while fellow wideout Eli Rogers and tight end Gerald Christian received Bridgewater’s two other touchdown passes. Michaelee Harris caught backup quarterback Will Gardner’s touchdown pass in the fourth.
Dominique Brown rushed for 78 yards on three carries with a touchdown while Brandon Radcliff, Senorise Perry and Michael Dyer accounted for the team’s three other rushing touchdowns.
Overall, the Cardinals gained 464 total yards while their defense limited the Golden Panthers (0-4) to a school-record 30 yards.
E.J. Hilliard completed four of nine passes for 27 yards and was sacked four times, Alfonso Randolph rushed for 13 yards on eight carries and Silas Spearman ran 12 yards on 14 carries. But Hilliard lost 32 yards on his five rushing attempts.
In the first, Bridgewater hit Parker with a three-yard touchdown pass before John Wallace booted a 26-yard field goal for a 10-0 lead.
The Cardinals piled up more points on the board after Perry and Brown completed scoring runs while Bridgewater added two more touchdowns to his tally for a 38-0 halftime lead.
