Ann C. Dunlap, 77, of Bethany Village, Mechanicsburg, died peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Anna Devore; her husband, Richard; and two sons, Richard Jr. and Stephen, all of whom she is now joyfully reunited with in heaven.
She is survived by her brother, Charley Devore and his wife, Clarice of California; her daughter, Susan Cannillo and her husband, Rob and her grandchildren, Sara, Stephen and Emily of Florida, NY; her son, Charles and his wife, Kristen and grandchildren, Jackson and Kale of Roswell, GA; and her daughter Linda Mussoline and her partner, Sarah Dewey of Harrisburg.
Born in Marion, Ohio on Jan. 5, 1935, she was truly a woman of many talents. She loved to write letters and kept a running correspondence with numerous friends and relatives throughout most of her life.
She was an avid seamstress and sewed her own and also her children’s clothing and dabbled in needlepoint and painting as well. Never one to leave a room untouched, she and her beloved husband skillfully painted, wallpapered and decorated every home in which they lived. Her creativity even extended to wallpapering the old Woody station wagon with wood grain-patterned shelf contact paper when it began to rust.
She played the piano and sang beautifully, and one of her greatest joys was singing with Richard in church. They met when they were asked to sing a duet together when Richard was in seminary, and they never stopped singing.
The family is comforted to know that they are together again and regaling their loved ones with song. She was a devoted wife and mother, faithfully serving with and supporting Richard throughout his career as a minister. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, 228 N. Centre St., Philipsburg, with the Rev. Mark Thumma officiating. Burial will follow at the Philipsburg Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until the hour of service Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Richard and Ann Dunlap to the Bethany Village Benevolent Care Fund, 325 Wesley Dr., Mechanicsburg, PA 17055 or to Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Rd., Harrisburg, PA 17110, whose staff provided excellent care for Richard during his last weeks.
