Houston, TX, United States (4E Sports) – All-time great and Houston Rockets icon Hakeem “The Dream” Olajuwon sees a very bright season ahead for the team with a deadly combination of Jeremy Lin and Dwight Howard leading their campaign.
Olajuwon has been working as a development coach with the Rockets all summer, and he observed that the team now has the right ingredients in Lin and Howard.
“Dwight can clearly dominate this league comfortably. He has everything that he needs and he has desire and work ethic to do it,” said Olajuwon of Howard.
The Dream added that he had worked with Lin in the post and was very impressed with the latter’s moves.
Olajuwon noted to Lin that it would be in his advantage to use his post moves against the “little guys” that guard him.
The Rockets also has James Harden, who together with Howard, gives them two of the top ten players in the league.
It is widely believed that the franchise now has its best shot at a championship since Hakeem Olajuwon’s time.
But Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey feels there are at least three teams better than them at this point, namely: the Miami Heat, Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs.
“I think those three, I would say going in for sure are better than us, and they’ve definitely proven more,” Morey said of the last three teams to appear in an NBA Finals. “I think the Bulls and the Pacers they’re very good as well this year. I am hoping we are in the mix with them, maybe equal quality.”
Morey added that until they feel they belong to the top two teams going into the season, it’s hard to talk about being favorites to win the championship.
