Cleveland, OH, United States (4E Sports) – Cleveland Browns coach Rob Chudzinski has picked Brian Hoyer over Jason Campbell to replace Brandon Weeden as starting quarterback against the Minnesota Vikings Sunday.
“It was absolutely my decision,” said coach Rob Chudzinski, who noted that Hoyer can make every throw that needed.
It will be the second career start for Hoyer, who also started last season with the Arizona Cardinals.
He has also played for the New England Patriots and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Hoyer completed 19 of 34 passes for 225 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions in a Week 17 loss to the 49ers.
Weeden, the Browns’ starter for the first two games of the regular season, injured the thumb on his throwing hand in Sunday’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
