Clearfield — Just like their brethren on the varsity team, the Clearfield junior varsity football team remained undefeated on the season at 3-0 with a 32-6 win over visiting Central at the Bison Sports Complex Monday evening.
Clearfield opened the night’s scoring via the special teams unit as Curtis Daub blocked a Central punt around the goal line and Seth Caldwell was right there for the recovery and a touchdown. The PAT failed and Clearfield was up 6-0 at the first break after Tallin Norris picked up an interception to thwart a Scarlet Dragon drive.
Caldwell added a second touchdown when he scored on a five yard run. This time the two point conversion failed and the hosts were up 12-0.
Nick Kovalick picked up Clearfield’s second turnover via a fumble, which helped set up Dakota Shimmel for a 14 yard run to paydirt to set the score at 18-0 at the half.
Seth Caldwell tacked on his third score of the game; this one on a two yard run. Josh Sorbera picked up his first extra point of the game to set the score at 25-0.
Clearfield also picked up a defensive touchdown in the third quarter as Christian Rumery picked off a Central pass in the flat and waltzed 18 yards untouched to the endzone. Sorbera’s second XP gave Clearfield their final points at 32. Central finally broke the Bison goal line on a 24 yard pass that set the final at 32-6.
The Bison (3-0) will travel to Huntingdon next Monday night in their next outing.
