Washington, DC, United States (4E) – The shooting rampage at the Washington Navy Yard killed a dozen people including the suspected shooter, according to the chief of the Metropolitan Police Department.
Cathy L. Lanier told ABC News of the death count and that two other armed suspects wearing military-style uniforms are being hunted.
Mayor Vincent Gray also said there were 12 fatalities without elaborating.
The MPD tweeted ABC News informing that the killed shooter was a black male in his 50s. He had a rifle and wore a drab olive military uniform.
A second suspected shooter was a white male wearing a Navy-style khaki uniform and beret.
Ten people were reported injured in the shooting that started at the Naval Installations Command in Building 197 around 8:20 a.m. They included a police officer and a guard of the naval facility.
MPD officers, agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and a SWAT team surrounded the building.
Meanwhile, President Barack Obama issued a statement saying those behind the shooting will be held responsible.
