Minneapolis, MN, United States (4E Sports) – Minnesota Timberwolves’ Flip Saunders likes how their point guard continues to improve his game as the Eurobasket tournament progresses.
Saunders, the team’s residdent for basketball Operations, has been monitoring Rubio’s performance through streaming video via the internet.
“What I like about him is, his game continues to get better and better right now in the heat of the tournament,” Saunders said.
Rubio is averaging 10 points a game and is attacking, shooting 48.9 percent and dishing out 3.7 assists per game while averaging under 22 minutes per game. He’s also getting some steals.
Rubio’s jump shot has shown a great deal of improvement at Eurobasket 2013, particularly from the mid-range. Through four games against Croatia, Slovenia, Czech Republic and Poland, he has shot 41.9 percent from the floor and 2-4 from three.
Ricky Rubio, however, had difficulty re-finding the scoring touch he’d had for the last two games against Georgia and their 79-75 loss to Spain Thursday, although the record show his filed goal average improved to 48.9 percent while retaing his 50 percent three-point shooting average connecting 3 out of 6.
It is being assumed that Saunders comments came before Spain’s loss to Greece Thursday when he shot 2-of-7, had three assist and made three turnovers.
