Clemson, SC, United States (4E Sports) – Tajh Boyd threw three touchdown passes and ran for two more as the No. 8 Clemson Tigers defeated the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs 38-35 Saturday night at the Memorial Stadium.
Boyd had passes of 17 yards to Stanton Seckinger and 25 to Charone Peake to set up his 4-yard scoring run.
The Bulldogs answered back with Todd Gurley’s 75-yard touchdown.
Seconds later, the Tigers scored again as Sammy Watkins grabbed Boyd’s pass and raced for a 77-yard touchdown.
But Aaron Murray found Keith Marshall for a 4-yard run to make it 14-all.
The Bulldogs took the lead 21-14 after Murray’s pass to Quayvon Hicks keyed a 97-yard drive with a 1-yard power rush.
The Tigers then clamped down on the Bulldogs midway through the second quarter, as Vic Beasley sacked Murray to end one drive and linebacker Stephone Anthony jarring the ball loose on Georgia on another play.
Boyd ran for 10 yards on a scoring drive to make it 21-all.
The Tigers took the lead for good on Chandler Catanzaro’s 24-yard field goal in the third quarter.
Boyd pushed the margin to 38-28 in the final quarter with an 87-yard drive with Seckinger hauling in a 9-yard TD pass.
