South Bend, IN, United States (4E Sports) – Notre Dame has given coach Brian Kelly a new five-year deal that runs through the 2017 season.
The announcement was made following their 28-6 win against Temple, which was the coach’s 200th career win.
“It ensures that Brian will continue to provide leadership that has fundamentally changed this program, restored it, given it the foundation it needs for continue success in the future,” said athletic director Jack Swarbrick.
The school has been working on an extension after Kelly led the Irish to a 12-0 record and the national championship game against Alabama.
Kelly interviewed for the Philadelphia Eagles job the day after the BCS game in January, but soon decided to return to 14th-ranked Notre Dame.
