Houston, TX, United States (4E) – Vice President Joe Biden cancelled a fundraising appearance in Maine on Wednesday to visit his son, Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, at a Houston, Texas hospital.
Biden’s motorcade was seen at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center around 10:30 a.m. and a hospital employee said the vice president walked in. The vehicles left around 5:30 p.m.
Biden’s office said he has no public events and will remain in Houston on Wednesday.
Severin Beliveau, one of the hosts of the private fundraiser for New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan that Biden was supposed to grace Wednesday, said the event was canceled and Secret Service agents left. The fundraiser was rescheduled to Thursday without Biden at the Cape Neddick, Maine home of New Hampshire Democratic lobbyist James Demers, according to Beliveau.
AG Biden, 44, and his father arrived in Houston on Monday. The younger Biden reportedly began medical tests at the MD Andersen on Tuesday, but his office did not say what his condition was.
On Monday, the office said the attorney general was admitted to the Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago last week. He complained of feeling weak and disoriented following a long drive to Indiana for a family vacation.
The tests are checking the symptoms, according to a statement from the Delaware Department of Justice.
