Anaheim, CA, United States (4E Sports) – The Anaheim Ducks have signed free agent defenseman Mark Fistric to fill the void left by Sheldon Souray, who will spend the next three to five months recovering from surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist.
The team did not release terms of the deal but the Orange County Register reported that Fistric signed a contract worth $900,000.
The 27-year-old Fistric had six assists and a plus-6 rating in 25 games with the Edmonton Oilers last season. In 282 career NHL games with the Dallas Stars and Oilers, Fistric has three goals and 26 assists.
The Ducks earlier announced that Souray sustained the injury during an off-ice workout July 17. He underwent surgery July 25.
The 37-year-old Souray, who had 17 points in 44 games last season, led the team with a plus-19 rating and was second on the team with an average of 20:44 of ice time per game.
