Buffalo, NY, United States (4E Sports) – Buffalo Bills quarterback EJ Manuel will undergo a minor surgery after an MRI revealed swelling in his left knee.
It is uncertain if the 2013 first-round draft pick will return immediately after the preseason.
“He will miss the remainder of the preseason and then be re-evaluated at that time,” said coach Doug Marrone.
The team did not announce any injury to Manuel after Friday’s win over the Minnesota Vikings, when he played the entire third quarter and completed 10-of-12 passes for 92 yards and a touchdown.
Manuel also played solidly in his debut against the Indianapolis Colts, leading a two-minute drive at the end of the first half.
In two preseason games, Manuel completed 26 of 33 passes for 199 yards and two touchdowns, and ran four times for 29 yards.
Veteran Kevin Kolb will start Buffalo’s third preseason game next Saturday against the Washington Redskins.
Kolb was 13 of 21 for 111 yards and an interception on Sunday.
The Bills have yet to decide whether to let Manuel take over the starting quarterback job from day one, or go with Kolb.
