Philadelphia, PA, United States (4E Sports) – The race for the Philadelphia Eagles’ starting quarterback job just got interesting with Nick Foles and Michael Vick sharing first-team reps in Friday’s preseason game against the New England Patriots.
Eagles head coach Chip Kelly said Vick will start against the Patriots but will alternate with Foles during the first quarter to allow both quarterbacks to get multiple series with the starting unit, which is more action than some starters get in the first preseason game.
Earlier, Kelly warned reporters not to read too much into his choice for the team’s starting quarterback in the preseason opener.
Kelly explained that Vick is only going first because it’s his turn in the quarterback rotation while Foles will start Week 2 of the preseason.
Aside from the quarterback issue, Kelly also announced that Brandon Boykin and Bradley Fletcher will start at cornerback while Patrick Chung and Nate Allen will start at safety, relegating Kenny Phillips to the bench.
