Scottsdale, AZ, United States (4E Sports) – Michael Brantley blasted a three-run homer and Omir Santos drove in two runs as the Cleveland Indians held on to a 5-4 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks Thursday at Salt River Fields.
The Indians are steadily showing their potential as the Opening Day draws near. Terry Francona couldn’t be happier with their slugging and pitching unit ready to make a big splash this upcoming season.
On Thursday, the Tribe proved they could win close games through their defense as they held the D-backs from scoring in the last five innings.
Indians hurler Carlos Carrasco allowed eight hits and four runs over five innings while D-backs pitcher Ian Kennedy allowed nine hits and five runs into the fifth.
The Tribe improved to 15-9 (8-4 away) in Spring Training while the D-Backs went below .500 at 12-13 (5-7 home).
