Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – “Warrior” director Helmer Gavin O’Connor is set to helm “Jane Got A Gun” after Lynne Ramsay failed to show up on the first day of production.

According to Hollywood Reporter, O’Connor is known to be picky with his projects. His previous projects include “Pride and Glory,” “Miracle” and “Tumbleweeds.” If everything goes well, filming could start on Thursday in New Mexico.

Meanwhile, former director Ramsay, aside from being a no-show during the first day of production, also reportedly missed several negotiation meetings prior to filming. No specific reason for her leaving has been cited.

“I have millions of dollars invested, we’re ready to shoot, we have a great script, crew and cast,” producer Scott Steindorff told Deadline on Tuesday. “I’m shocked and so disappointed someone would do this to 150 crew members who devoted so much time, energy, commitment and loyalty to a project, and then have the director not show up. It is insane somebody would do this to other people. I feel more for the crew and their families, but we are keeping the show going on, directors are flying in, and a replacement is imminent.”

Written by Brian Duffield, “Jane Got A Gun” tells about Jane, a woman who, with the help of an ex-lover, defends her outlaw husband against a gang.

Produced by Steindorf, Natalie Portman, Terry Douglas, Peter Nathanial, Chris Coen and Aleen Keshishian, the film stars Portman, Jude Law, Joel Edgerton and Rodrigo Santoro.
