Pennsylvania State Police Graduate 73 New Troopers

HARRISBURG– State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan on Friday congratulated the 73 men and women joining the ranks of the Pennsylvania State Police following their graduation from the State Police Academy in Hershey.

Noonan and U.S. Sen. Robert P. Casey Jr., spoke at the ceremony, held at Central Dauphin High School. Cadet Joseph J. Pokorny spoke on behalf of the cadet class.

Cadet Jeffrey H. Walton of Westmoreland County was named the outstanding cadet by his classmates and instructors, receiving the American Legion Award.

Also receiving awards were:

• Cadet Brandon J. Huffman, Dauphin County – Daniel F. Dunn High Scholastic Award and the Col. Paul J. Chylak Memorial Driver Proficiency Award;
• Cadet Stefano N. Gallina, Bucks County – Charles B. Gesford High Pistol Award;
• Cadet Lamarr N. Watkins, Chester County–JohnK. Schafer Memorial Physical Fitness Award.

Maj. Adam M. Kisthardt, director of the State Police Bureau of Training and Education, supervised the training of the class, which was the 135^th class to graduate from the State Police Academy in Hershey since it opened in 1960.

The graduates who have completed 25 weeks of intensive physical and classroom training have been assigned to stations within nine troop areas across the state.
