Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Singer Beyonce as she graces the April cover of Shape magazine, has talked about how she managed to shed her post-baby weight in such a short time, but in a healthy way.
The voluptuous singer has gained a whopping 57 lbs. when she was pregnant with Blue Ivy, her first child with husband Jay-Z. Proving she’s no different from other mothers battling post-baby weight, she said, “I didn’t have a lot of time to lose the weight because I scheduled a show three months after I gave birth, which I would never do again!”
The “Bow Down” singer credits her healthy diet and dance workouts for her weight-loss. “The most important thing about creating a healthy lifestyle is figuring out which workout makes you happy,” she told the magazine.
In the behind-the-scenes video of the interview, the first-time mom expressed that she had to exert a lot of effort to get her pre-baby body back, including cutting back on her calorie intake and avoiding pasta, her favorite. She said, “I’m not a person that is naturally very thin. I am a person that has to work at keeping my body in shape.”
“Talking about weight can be a very touchy subject for women, but Beyonce was willing to do it because she wanted to make every woman out there feel like she too could achieve what she did,” Shape editor-in-chief Tara Kraft said.
Beyonce encouraged women to focus on the good things rather than comparing one’s self with others. “Not everyone is supposed to be the same. Be healthy and take care of yourself, but be happy with the beautiful things that make you, you,” she said.
