Miami, FL, United States (4E Sports) – Free-agent receiver Donte Stallworth was reportedly taken to hospital Saturday after suffering burns following a hot air balloon accident.
Stallworth, who played one game last season for the New England Patriots before missing the remainder of 2012-2103 campaign with an ankle injury, sustained serious burns after the hot air balloon he rode smacked into powerlines Saturday morning.
According to reports, Stallworth was with his girlfriend and another man when the accident occurred. The status of the wideout’s girlfriend remains unknown.
Stallworth’s agent Drew Rosenhaus ascertained that Stallworth is in stable condition and ready to play this coming season.
“He’s going to be OK. He has some burns, but he’s going to be fine,” Rosenhaus said in a text message to USA TODAY Sports on Sunday. “He will be able to continue his NFL career. The injuries are not to the extent they will jeopardize his career.”
The 32-year-old wideout recorded 321 receptions for 4,837 yards and 35 touchdowns over 10 seasons.
