WBC: Erick Aybar, Jose Reyes’ clutch hits lift Dominican Republic over USA

Miami, FL, United States (4E Sports) – Erick Aybar and Jose Reyes each drove in a run in the ninth inning as the Dominican Republican stayed undefeated after taking a 3-1 victory over the United States in the second round of World Baseball Classic Thursday at Marlins Park.
The loaded slugging unit of the Dominican Republic continued to find success in the World Baseball Classic, winning all five games so far in the tournament.
It was a showcase of pitching prowess early on with USA pitcher R.A Dickey and Dominican Republic hurler Samuel Deduno keeping the batters in check.
The defensive oriented game went on until Aybar singled Nelson Cruz home with the go-ahead hit in the ninth inning.
Jose Reyes, who played last season for the Marlins before being shipped to the Toronto Blue Jays, sealed the deal with another run-producing single.
With the victory, Dominican Republic advanced to the semifinal round of WBC, joining Japan and the Netherlands.
The Americanswill have to face Pue rto Rico one more time Friday for a place in the final four of the World Baseball Classic.
