Fashion designers take stage as 2013 CFDA announces nominees, honorees

New York, NY, United States (4E) – The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) has announced this year’s nominees and honorees for the 2013 CFDA Awards in New York.

The affair was helmed by CFDA President Diane von Furstenberg, who made the announcement with CFDA Chief Executive Officer Steven Kolb. Before the announcement, Furstenberg thanked Nadja and Swarovski for their continued support of American fashion.

Kolb said in a statement, “The CFDA Fashion Awards celebrate American design talent and the influence our industry has across the globe. This year’s nominees and honorees represent the best and most creative talent of the past year as determined by a guild of their peers.”

The categories and nominees for this year’s various awards are:

Menswear Designer of the Year

Swarovski Award for Womenswear

Shane Gabier & Christopher Peters for Creatures of the Wind

Carly Cushnie & Michelle Ochs for Cushnie et Ochs

Swarovski Award for Menswear

Dao-Yi Chow & Maxwell Osborne for Public School

The honorees for this year are:

Tim Blanks – Media Award

Oscar de la Renta – Founders Award

Vera Wang – Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award

The 2013 CFDA Fashion Awards will be held on June 3 at the Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall and will be broadcast online on June 4 on Style.com.
