HARRISBURG –Unemployment and workers compensation beneficiaries will be receiving a new and better debit card, state Sen. John N. Wozniak said.
“I’m glad to see state agencies keep innovating and looking for ways to make what they do more accessible, less expensive and less bureaucratic,” Wozniak said.
“Payment of benefits has come a long way since checks were sent in the mail.”
Beginning Friday, JPMorgan Chase will be the state’s new debit card vendor for the benefit programs, according to the state Treasury Department.
The new card will offer numerous free and unlimited services and will have a wider network of no-fee ATMs. The program also offers other free services, such as online bill pay, customer service calls, and cash withdrawals from tellers at participating banks.
“The new cards are expected to save beneficiaries $5 million per year in fees,” Wozniak said. “That’s important when you’re still looking for work.”
